All Round Amazing Vet Nurse/Receptionist - Bay of Islands Veterinary Services 

Bay of Islands Veterinary Services is a large mixed practice in the beautiful Bay of Islands. We have four clinics operating out of Kerikeri, Waipapa, Kaikohe and Kawakawa. We are seeking a multitalented, dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Veterinary Nurse/Receptionist. The successful candidate will be one of two nurses based in our Kaikohe clinic assisting small animal vets with a high surgical case load. You will also get the chance to work some days in our Kawakawa branch and larger clinics in Kerikeri and Waipapa. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and a commitment to providing the highest level of service to our clients and their animals.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist veterinarians in the care and treatment of animals 

  • Perform routine procedures such as blood tests, and wound care 

  • Provide support during surgeries and other medical procedures 

  • Educate animal owners on proper care and treatment of their animals 

  • Perform reception duties for both pet owners and farmer clients. 

Qualifications: 

  • Proven veterinary nursing experience with formal qualifications, or working towards them. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to work well in a busy team environment 

  • A knowledge of farming and the local community will be an advantage as our Kaikohe branch services a large farming community

Bay Vets, small animal, Locum Position.

We are after a small animal locum vet from mid-July to end of September 2025.

Join our dynamic and friendly team in the stunning Far North of New Zealand. We are an independent, privately owned, mixed animal practice with four clinics, spread across the beautiful Far North.

The role will require inclusion in our 1 in 6 after-hours roster which is generously compensated on top of your usual salary. There is always a second vet on call and a nurse available. This position could suit a recent graduate confident with routine surgery and a range of routine consults.
