Feeding & General health

Feeding:

We stock a large range of specialist horse feeds and dietary supplements and can advise you on what the options are for your horse. Our wonderful staff in our Waipapa branch can help you with what feed is right for your horses needs.

Health checks:

Our team of experienced vets are available for routine health checks. These are often coupled with your horses regularly vaccinations or yearly dental exam.

Cushings testing:

The preferred diagnostic test for Pituitary Pars Intermedia Dysfunction (PPID) also referred to as Equine Cushing’s Disease is an endogenous ACTH test.

For a limited time Boehringer Ingelheim will be sponsoring free Equine ACTH Testing.

Parasite Control:

We are encouraging clients to bring faecal samples into the Waipapa clinic for Faecal Egg Count testing. This gives us an indication of the current parasite burden and whether or not your horse actually requires drenching.

We can also inform which drench you should be using at certain times of the year.

Young and old horses are most commonly your most sensitive to parasites and likely to require more drenching than a middle age horse. But faecal egg counts are the most accurate way to find out.

Uncontrolled parasite infections can lead to a range of problems including weight loss and colic.

Emergency care:

We have a vet available 24/7 for emergency care. If your horse is injured or unwell, please call. Prompt treatment of wounds often provides the best outcome.
