Puppy Preschool

Puppy Preschool – Proudly sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition

All puppies must have had a minimum of 1 vaccination at least 2 weeks prior to the start of the first session.

4 sessions will be run over a 4-week period on Wednesday night from 5.45-6.45. Payment is required prior or at the first session and is  $200 for 4 weeks.

Sessions are held at Bay of Islands Veterinary Services in our Kerikeri branch (opposite hunting and fishing).

Most sessions will be held by a team of one of our vets and a nurse. We will try to keep instructors the same for each group of puppies, but it may vary in case of sickness etc. Open to any puppy age between 8 weeks (if they had their first vaccination at 6 weeks) and 20 weeks is welcome to attend.

What to bring and do before class:

• Your puppy – please ensure they are a collar or harness and a lead. Please keep your puppy on a lead unless instructed otherwise.

• Puppies’ food – do not feed your puppy dinner prior to the session. Bring a small bag of the puppies’ normal biscuits with you to class.

• Please try to toilet your puppy at home before coming to class. Outside of the clinic is not save for puppies that are not fully vaccinated so they will remain inside for the entire session.

• If your puppy is unwell (depressed, vomiting or diarrhea) please DO NOT bring them to class and call the clinic for advice.

• Please try to limit to a maximum of 2 people attending the class with your puppy and leave young children at home. Ideally at least one of the people attending would be at every session.

What to expect:

Each session will involve teaching a basic command, socialization with other puppies and people, exposure to the clinic and a new environment.

You will receive a discount voucher for 10% of your final puppy vaccination.

We are planning on running these 4 week courses monthly. Please contact us on 094077354 with any questions.

Puppy preschool is the best way to start off your young pup to gain confidence and social skills! This is a critical developmental time in a puppy’s life. The NZVA (New Zealand Veterinary Association) recommends early socialisation and early training. “Well socialised puppies are much less likely to develop behavioural problems“.
