Our Team in Waipapa

Hilary completed an Agricultural Science degree at Massey University in 1990. Following a few years dairy farming in the Waikato and thoroughbred stud work in the Rangitikei and Waikato, she returned to Massey to study Veterinary Science. Hilary joined Bay Vets in 2009. Since then she has built the equine side of the practice while continuing to see a few pets and production animals . At home on her lifestyle block near Waipapa, she is surrounded by horses, dogs, and a number of other critters.

I began my vet journey at the end of last century. I have worked as mostly a farm vet in Dargaville, Kamo and now Bay of Islands. I feel I have driven down most roads of Northland, but there is a few left to go! My interests are working beside farmers to help solve the puzzles that present, and working with the new vets to share some of the stories. This has lead me to be part of national industry programs involving reproductive work, mastitis advisory, parasite management and disease control.

Courtney was raised on a dairy farm in the Far North, she joined the team in 2021 as a mixed animal vet. Courtney attended Massey University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Agriculture and then went on to study Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland. Outside of work, she enjoys getting involved in various sports, adventures around Northland and spending time with friends and family.

Nicole, a familiar face to many, grew up in Kerikeri and has now joined us at BOI Vets as a mixed animal vet after finishing Veterinary medicine at Massey University. Nicole's free time is consumed with horses, taking Frankie to the beach or working on her lifestyle property!

Originally from Alberta, Canada, Tanika studied veterinary medicine in Dublin, Ireland before making her way to Kerikeri. As a mixed animal vet, she loves the variety her role offers—but has a special passion for working with cows. Outside the clinic, you’ll often find her hiking, cooking or baking something delicious, and enjoying time outdoors.

Kathy was raised on a beautiful sheep and beef farm with lots of horses, they became her passion for life. She worked on the Lands and Survey farm in Taupo with her husband, docking 4000 lambs a day was the norm! She joined the Taupo hunt club and was on the hunt field most weekends. Moving back to the Bay of Islands in the 80's she joined the BOI Vets team as a nurse/ receptionist in Kerikeri, later moving to Waipapa when the large animal branch started.

Jenna grew up on a sheep and beef farm in Northland. She has been with Bay of Islands Veterinary Services for 15 years. Jenna enjoys spending time outdoors and with her horses.

Naomi is an enthusiastic vet tech who loves getting out on the farm with the vets, providing hands-on support during large animal visits. Her practical skills and passion for animal care make her a valuable asset in the field, ensuring every animal gets the attention they deserve.

Megan graduated from the University of Waikato in 1993 with a Bachelor of Management Studies. After University, Megan worked on project management of large pharmaceutical clinical trials for new medicines. Megan has worked for the practice since 2010 in a variety of behind-the-scenes roles and started the account’s role in 2015.
